This picture (although it was taken just for fun) is a really great mash up of two big areas of my life. Fashion and fitness. I am almost equally interested and invested in both areas. I am a hair stylist, which is obviously a part of fashion world, but I am definitely interested in all aspects of fashion.
On the other hand, my husband, Zac is a personal trainer, and crossfit coach. So, I find my self at the gym training at least 4 days a week, and I love it!
I know that the two worlds don't generally mix too well, and they both have distinct reputations that tend to be very opposite of each other at times.
In the fashion industry, its usually if you're not a size 00, 6 feet tall and weigh 90lbs, then you're overweight, and not "sexy" in their eyes. But I think a new wave of fitness, and the way people are looking at it, is going to really change how people view what is considered "sexy".
There have already been thousands of pics and posts going around proclaiming "strong is sexy" or "strong is the new sexy/skinny". This makes me happy. It's makes me feel like women are gaining more and more confidence about themselves, and realizing that being "skinny" is not the end all, be all to being considered "pretty" or even "fashionable". Women are realizing that they can do more, and possibly be something or someone they never imagined they'd be. And they can look good and be healthy in the process. It's all quite liberating actually. I'm stronger, and healthier than I've ever been, but yet I am more girly/ fashion forward than I've ever been as well.
I think what it comes down to is, when you feel good about the way you look, and you're taking care of yourself and making healthier decisions, you feel better and more confident about everything else in life. You are able to focus energy on other things you love (such as fashion) because you just feel good, and look good too! And then maybe you can squat with YOUR bootie heels on too! ;0)
