If you've known me longer than a year, than you've probably caught on to the fact that I love to change my hair, and I do so quite frequently! Being a hairstylist only adds fuel to the already massive fire! It's like being a bar tender when your an alcoholic!

About 6-7 years ago when I was in cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell, I had my hair cut very short in order to be a model for a few different hair shows. That was the first and only time that my hair had ever been above my shoulders in all my life! Until now!

So for the past 6 years, I had been determined to have looong hair! I mean, I wanted Victoria Secret, lovely long and flowing, dreamy hair! When I finally came to the realization that nobody has that hair in real, everyday life, and that was a goal that was probably never going to come to pass, I thought, ok- why not have a little fun then?!

In October of this past year I decided to take a big leap and chop my hair right above my shoulders in super blunt bob. I loved it! Although I had cut at least 6-8 inches off, it was a good fresh change! But then, I had a dilemma... Do I grow my hair back out, or cut it shorter?! I figured well, I'm only getting older, and if I want something fun and funky, I better do it now! Soooo I did! I cut it SHORT! It was scary, but I just did it!

I can't tell you how strange it is to realize how much of your outer identity is caught up in your hair! At first I felt like I had lost all my femininity! But I quickly realized that I didn't loose it, it had just been adjusted, and redefined by doing things like finding cute earrings, and paying more attention to my makeup and eyes. It's surprisingly a ton of fun to have short hair! It's almost like you can just do whatever you want with it because you've already been brave enough to chop it all off! Aaand (surprise surprise), I've already made plans for cute cuts during the grow out process!

Of course I miss my long hair, but who doesn't love having beautiful long locks?! I'll get there again one day, but in the mean time, I'm going to really try and enjoy the all the phases of having short hair!
